DIET Full Form: For education in India, District Institutes for Education and Training (DIET) are district-level educational institutes established by the Government of India in each district of India.
They help coordinate and implement government policies at the district level.
Around 3 million elementary and primary school teachers need a recurring focus on innovation in teaching and learning at the school level.

The Beginning Of DIET
Until the adaptation of the NPE in 1986, academic and resource support for primary education.
Also, it provides mainly at the national and state levels only by institutions such as NCERT. NIEPA and SCERT.
Also, in adult education, the Central Directorate for Adult Education provided support to national and state level state resource centers.
Below the state level, there are institutions for training primary school teachers, but their activities were mainly limited to training in-service teachers.
The quality of education is significantly influencing by the quality of teacher training.
This, in turn, depends on the size and status, role and function of teacher training institutions.
Most teacher training institutions’ physical, human and academic resources are inadequate, even for the role of teacher training.
When the NEP was amended in 1986, the primary and adult education systems were too large to receive adequate support from national and state agencies alone.
The NPE categorically demanded further expansion combined with significant qualitative improvement.
Consequently, the NPE and the PoA planned to add a third tire to the support system at the district level in form of the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET).
DIETS are establishing with funds from the central government under NPE 86.
DIET’s fundamental transactional approach places the learner at the center of making education a joyful, innovative, and satisfying learning activity rather than a joyless, rote, authoritarian system of instruction.
In the case of adult education programs, functional competence can be teaching to adults in a participatory mode of active learning.
Aizawl Diet
DIET Aizawl was initially establishing on September 1, 1953, as the Junior Basic Training Center for untrained P/S instructors
Also, it merges with the Normal Training School (NTS) on September 19, 1974, which is good for instructors.
Of M/S without training, it becomes as the Graduate Teacher Training Institute (UGTTI).
Then, on July 1, 1980, the name changes to the Teacher Training Institute (TTI).
Finally, it updates to the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in December 1988.
DIET Aizawl is based in Chaltlang, in the northern city of Aizawl. Each year, DIET Aizawl enrosls 100 student teachers for a 2-year diploma course.
In addition, DIET also annually enrolls practising teachers for a 2-year diploma course for untrained teachers.
